Martin Brodeur looking to prove himself against the Philadelphia Flyers
To get the last playoffs spot in the Eastern Division, they are still 2 points behind Columbus. The Devils can put up a good performance and win the game against Flyers so that they have better chances of making it to the playoffs even if Columbus wins its matchups.
Martin Brodeur said that the thrill of competing for something was one of the things in this sport that was very enjoyable. Working with a team to achieve a common objective was a great experience.
“That’s what you play for. You wish it would be just a stroll to the playoffs, but it’s not. It comes to be games that are important for the psyche of the team and for the standings, for a lot of different reasons,” Brodeur said. “So, it’s definitely nice to be part of it.”
Brodeur has shown himself to be quite a capable player and the three starts he made have ended in victories. When the Winter Olympics break kicked in, it was Cory Schneider who was playing his position and when he was asked if he thought about getting another good shot at his place, he replied at that time before the break ended he had his doubts.
“If you asked me that question before the break, I didn’t think it was going to happen. After the break, not necessarily, but I think my mind was a little more clear about my situation,” he said, “about what I was thinking about, if I was going to get starts compared to after the outdoor game.”
Brodeur added that it was not easy to get past the notion he might not get another chance but he nevertheless clung on.
“It was a little tougher for me mentally just not to have a chance to redeem myself and get back playing. But that disappeared and I tried to make the best out of the situation.
