Who’s one step closer to hoisting Lord Stanley? The Wrap-Around is your daily update for last nights’ NHL Playoff action.
Penguins Take 3-0 Series Lead With 4-1 Win.
It appears a pretty safe bet that the Senators will not repeat as Conference champions. Ottawa scored the games’ first goal in the second period. (Foligno) But the Penguins would pull away quickly. Maxime Talbot tied it in the 2nd, and then the Penguins scored 3 goals in the 3rd period to win the game. The first two goals of the 3rd were in the first two minutes, one by Sidney Crosby, and the other by Jordan Staal. Marian Hossa scored the 4th goal, and led the Penguins with 1 goal and two assists. The Penguins lead the series 3-0, and can end the series in Ottawa on Wednesday.
Predators Upset Red Wings To Keep Series Alive.
Very even game statistically. Detroit had a 2-0 lead halfway through the second off of Kris Draper and Jiri Hudler goals. But Nashville tied it up before periods’ end off of Alex Radulov and David Legwand goals. Pavel Datsyuk would score right at the beginning of the 3rd to give the Red Wings the lead. Ryan Suter would score for Nashville to tie it, and then 9 seconds later Jason Arnott would score off of a faceoff. Martin Erat scored an empty netter to end it 5-3. Detroit still leads the series 2-1 with game 4 in Nashville on Wednesday.
Wild Win Another Overtime Game
3 games, 3 overtimes. It’s a shame this series is on so late. Andrew Brunette scored in the first for Colorado, and the score would remain 1-0 until the 3rd period. Mikko Koivu would tie it up, and then Brian Rolston would tie it up shorthanded. But Joe Sakic would score with 5 minutes to go to tie it and force overtime. Halfway through OT, Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored the game winner 3-2 for the Wild. With that, Minnesota leads the series 2-1, with game 4 tonight in Denver.
