Maryland Down to Third-String QB After Injury
True freshman starting quarterback Perry Hills sustained a knee injury and was carted off the field during the Terrapins' 20-18 loss to North Carolina State Saturday. Edsall later confirmed that it was indeed an ACL tear and that he is expected to miss the rest of the season.
C.J. Brown, who took over for Wisconsin transfer Danny O'Brien last year, also tore his ACL two weeks before the regular season.
Edsall will now look to either sophomore Devin Bruns or another true freshman in Caleb Rowe, who are the only two remaining quarterbacks on scholarship left on the roster.
Hills leaves the team with 1,336 yards, eight touchdowns, seven interceptions and an ACC Rookie of the Week honor (which was earned after a 37-26 win over Temple).
