The Los Angeles Kings have struggled to get some momentum going with the 2013 season, partially due to their defense, and the loss of Matt Greene.
It was originally projected that Greene would be out for the entire season, needing surgery for a herniated disk in his back. The team announced, however, that the surgery to repair it was successful and he could return in as little as eight weeks.
While that is an optimistic outlook, there's nothing wrong with hoping for the best.
For now, Greene is on the IR, and as a result of his and Willie Mitchell's injuries, they've had to waive the newly acquired Anthony Stewart, and call up Andrew Bodnarchuk from the AHL to add more defensemen to the roster.
Hopefully, Greene will recover quickly and help guide his team back to the Stanley Cup.
