Aug 26, 2013; New York, NY, USA; New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey speaks about his injury during a press conference before a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field. It was announced today that Harvey has a partially torn UCL. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY SportsHearing that Matt Harvey will be out for the rest of the season was not only devastating for NY Mets fans, but for baseball fans in general.

The young player partially tore his UCL, which will keep him out for the rest of this season. However, it doesn't seem like he'll undergo Tommy John surgery because he tweeted:

Thank you everyone for the kind words and support. I may be done this year, but I will be back next year for April 1.

— Matt Harvey (@MattHarvey33) August 27, 2013

However, GM Sandy Alderson didn't know anything about the tweet, but said that must be the case if it's what Harvey tweeted.

Maybe we'll get some awesome videos and pranks from him in the meantime.

Adam Wainwright pitched for 6 years with a partially torn ligament in his elbow before it gave out.  However, with the advancements in Tommy John surgery and Harvey's young age, I wouldn't take the risk.  Get it done now, miss next season and come back strong in 2015.
