Matt Prater kicks NFL record 64 yard field goal
Tom Dempsey set the record for longest field goal in the NFL at 63 yards back in 1970. It's been tied three times since, but until today, never broken. Enter Matt Prater of the Broncos. At the end of the first half against the Titans today, the team sent out Prater for a 64 yard attempt. Deadspin has the video.
With that, Prater becomes an NFL record holder. Given how efficient place kicking has become, many have thought that the record was due to fall, but despite some close calls, it hadn't happened yet. It has now.
