Hopefully Matt Ryan knows it won't be this easy every week, not every team plays defense and tackles as poorly as the Detroit Lions.
On his very first career pass attempt, Ryan connected with Michael Jenkins for a 62-yard TD pass. The rookie from Boston College was so excited, you can see him knocked over center Todd McClure in his sprint down field to greet the receiving end of first career touchdown. Ryan is the first rookie to throw a touchdown pass on his first attempt since Michael Bishop in 2001. Since you're now asking who is that, this isn't an omen assuring a great, lengthy NFL career, but it sure is a nice way to kick off the season.
Ryan finished the day with 161 yards passing, completing 9-of-13 passes. He wasn't called on to pass too much because the Lions defense simply couldn't tackle running back Michael Turner. I don't mean that facetiously, they literally couldn't tackle Turner. The former backup to LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 220 yards -- Falcons franchise record -- and two touchdowns, one of which came from 66 yards out.
The Falcons offense looked sharp and effective, but I think we all know this had much more to do with the Lions ineptitude.

Why do you have to do that? Just give me my one week of euphoria before reality bites me in the butt next week.
On a serious note....the Falcon's offense will be fun to watch all year, good or bad. But the defense is going to have a looooooooooooong season. Either way, I'm enjoying this week. This will be the only time all season that I get to say the Falcons are above .500.
