The latest name in the KG Sweepstakes appears to be that of Mark Cuban.

Mark Cuban is confirming on the record to DallasBasketball.com that he is involving the Mavs in the Kevin Garnett Sweepstakes "because this is about trying to be opportunistic,'' says the team owner, adding that Dallas' willingness to pursue this deal is not a permanent change in overall philosophy but rather something "dependent on the situation.''

However, the Star-Telegram says the Mavericks aren't interested in any big deals right now.

No names have been thrown out, but one would assume that a Josh Howard would have to be involved for Minnesota to have any interest, and of course a 3rd team. Howard is probably the one player I wouldn't trade on the Mavs. I still think that Golden State is the quiet leader at this stage, if a Garnett deal actually happens.

I totally agree with you on Josh Howard. I would hate to see him go.

There is probably nothing much to this story. I don't doubt Cuban actually would give it a shot, but the Mavs would have to rip up the team for this to happen and it would be a "sell out for a championship" type of move, not only because of KGs age, but also because they would sink A LOT of extra money into getting a deal like this done.
