According to NTV Spor in Turkey, Mehmet Okur, will be retiring from the NBA. Okur is only 33 years old, but due to a slew of injuries over the past three years, the big man has finally decided to call it quits.
“I want to thank my family, my coaches, my teammates, the officials who have contributed to my career. And then I want to say Thanks to the fans who always supported me” said Okur.
Okur won a ring with the Detroit Pistons in 2004 before becoming an All Star in 2007 where he averaged 19 ppg and 7 rpg. The average NBA player is in the league less than five years, but Okur played in the NBA for ten years and had a very solid career overall.
