Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil seems to have put an end to rumors suggesting he might move to Arsenal or Manchester United this summer. The German midfielder has declared that he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid and is looking forward to recording an impressive season.

According to media reports the 24-year-old Germany international has been contemplating about moving to the Premier League since he has been unable to make the impact he had hoped to make at Real Madrid. Moreover, Ozil believes he is not being given enough time on the field.

As the Gareth Bale transfer saga nears its end with the Welsh star moving to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Ozil understands that might no longer have first-team opportunities. Rumor has it Ozil and Real Madrid aren’t on the best of terms, especially after Real Madrid shunned Ozil’s father and agent attempt to increase Ozil’s salary from €5 million to €8 million a year.

The new Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has dropped no hints over selling Ozil, but it is believed that the German star is unhappy over being substituted early in the two opening games of La Liga. Nonetheless, Ozil told reporters at a commercial event that he was keen on staying at Real Madrid.

“I feel really good at Madrid,” Ozil said. “I have a contract here until 2016. I feel very good here and get on really well with my team-mates. I want success here. There has been a lot written in the media, talk of some other options, but I have a contract and I am staying with Real Madrid.”

Ozil has looked unsettled on the field under Ancelotti, who is going for a more patient midfield style rather than the fiery attacking style under predecessor Jose Mourinho. However, Ozil is confident about fitting in and getting used to his new role.

“I feel very good, I have the confidence of the coach,” Ozil said. “There is a series of objectives that we want to achieve, in which each one will have a role to play. That is one of the reasons why I want to stay. We are very happy, we have won our two games, we have taken six points. It is true that we need to play better, but there is a long way to go.”

Ozil believes the new Real Madrid squad is extremely talented and possesses a large talent pool. The former Werder Bremen player sees Real Madrid challenging for major silverware this season.

“When you play for a team as important as Real Madrid, you must win trophies,” Ozil added. “We are going to do everything we can to win. It is true this is a club with special players, and I am convinced we will win trophies.”
