Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira believes his former teammate and compatriot Mesut Ozil can lead Arsenal to the Premier League title. Khedira claims Ozil’s “genius” can be used as a tool to end Arsenal’s title curse.
 
Ozil has been in stunning form the Gunners since making a last-minute move to Arsenal this summer. Ozil, who became the club’s record transfer at £42.5 million, has already proven his worth by becoming the leading assist provider in the Premier League.
 
The German midfielder has provided four assists in six games to proper Arsenal to the top of the table. Moreover, the flair Ozil is showing has helped manager Arsene Wenger acquire redemption in the eyes of Arsenal fans following a disappointing summer.
 
In an interview to the Daily Mirror, Khedira said that Ozil was providing Wenger’s side with the x-factor needed to challenge of major silverware.
 
“They already had a strong team in any case, but Mesut makes them into the best team in England,” Khedira said. “I am sure he can be the player that makes things happen for them and win them the championship. Mesut is a genius on the field -- there is no other way to describe him.”
 
In the absence of Ozil, Real Madrid are slowly falling out of contention for the La Liga title. Real Madrid have become prone to under par results and are finding it difficult to find chemistry. Khedira admits losing Ozil has been a blow and that his team has been unable to record good form since the 24-year-old Germany international left. 
 
“There was some disappointment among Madrid’s players because he is the best in the world in his position, but I understand his decision as a player and a friend,” Khedira added.
 
Ozil handed in his transfer request during the summer transfer window following a plethora of big signing from Real Madrid’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti. Fearing to fall out of favor in the eyes of Ancelotti and being overshadowed by Real Madrid’s lustrous squad, Ozil considered it best to move to a team where his talents were appreciated.
 
Wenger immediately picked up on Ozil’s unsettled news and made a bid on transfer deadline day. The switch happened within a matter of hours and Ozil was found to be in London in the next couple of days.
