That doesn’t seem to be the case though because about 1.5 weeks later, he is up and running around as if nothing ever happened, which apparently surprised his teammates too.
He’s been keeping his fans updated on Twitter (and if you don’t follow Metta you definitely should because he’s prone to bouts of hilariousness) by tweeting:
Nice basketball workout today .Good to be back on the court so soon.— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) April 6, 2013
My teammates were surprised to see me working hard and running .14 yrs and no wear and tear always helps. Guess what!!— Metta World Peace (@MettaWorldPeace) April 6, 2013
Well, maybe not no wear and tear, but this is his first major knee injury in his career, which should help with the recovery, but more interesting is his age. People tend to heal slower as they get older, and Metta is 33 years old and a 13 year vet.
The Lakers will need to keep winning every single game to try and get the 8th spot in the division, but their defense is clearly struggling without Metta, so hopefully his return is a speedy one.
