Metta World Peace to Return Tuesday Night
After announcing on Twitter that he would return in a week and half, Metta World Peace deleted his premature tweet after the results of his MRI had him out for at least 6 weeks. Well, it turns out that Metta was not wrong after all.
After receiving surgery on his knee, Metta experienced very little swelling in his knee. In fact, he was already participating in three-on-three scrimmages as of Monday.
“Right after surgery, they were amazed how the swelling didn't even exist off of meniscus surgery," World Peace said. "You can play, but the swelling is what keeps you from playing, so when I didn't have any swelling that's why I was pushing to play. I wanted to play three games ago. It was good teamwork with the doctors and training staff. We have to make a push and make a championship run."
His coach, Mike D’Antoni said, “He's good. It's probably a game-time decision, but he looks good. He's rearing to go. The medical staff will make a decision tomorrow. It's unbelievable. He's different. ... I've never seen this before."
The Los Angeles Lakers have been decimated by injuries all season long, however, if World Peace is able to return, the Lakers will have their best perimeter defender on the floor once again just in time for their playoff push. Teams fighting for the 8th seed rarely make for any news, since they're going to lose to the 1st seed anyway. But make no mistake, if these Lakers are healthy and they make the playoffs, these Lakers are no ordinary 8th seed at all.
