Metta World Peace now starring in a Nancy Grace chick flick on Lifetime
Mr. World Peace will be starring in a Lifetime network chick flick, written by Nancy Grace, and co-starring alongside Jennie Garth of "90210" fame.
TV Guide reports that Metta will star in "The Eleventh Victim", a crime drama based on a book of the same name by Nancy Grace. World Peace will play a private detective named Garlan Finch, and the film will premiere on Lifetime later this year.
You will probably not have any desire to see this movie, so I'm happy to spoil the plot. It focuses on a district attorney, played by Ms. Garth, who is attacked in court by a serial killer she's prosecuting. Rattled, she leaves town to start her career over as a therapist -- but her clients start dropping like flies, with all evidence pointing to the ubiquitous serial killer. Would you like to read an excerpt from the book? Of course you don't.
You would sure hope this film has a scene in which World Peace elbows the killer in the head with a Flagrant 2, or sees him attending an NBA game and goes into the stands to punch him out.
This is not World Peace's first acting gig.He also had a fairly amusing cameo on the 2012 Steve Harvey comedy "Think Like A Man". The scene is available online, so you don't have to endure actually watching the whole awful movie.
"The Eleventh Victim" was, in fact, a New York Times bestseller, and is highly inspired by events in Ms. Grace's career. Nancy Grace had evidently hoped to cast Metta in the role. "I wanted to cast someone for whom I have a true fondness," Ms. Grace told TV Guide, "Metta World Peace was my first pick."
World Peace, Ms. Grace, and Ms. Garth have all competed on "Dancing With The Stars", which is how Grace and World Peace met. He was the first contestant eliminated in Season 13. His appearance as a weatherman on Canadian television was far more successful.
