Miami Dolphins 1st Draft Pick: Should Bill Parcells Trade to Cleveland for Derek Anderson?
Bill Parcells won't be able to clean up the Dolphins mess left behind by Nick Saban in one move, but Miami will have a lot of options come next April.

One rumor floating around is that Parcells is already strongly considering trading the 1st overall pick to Cleveland for QB Derek Anderson. If I'm the Browns I make that move instantaneously. What about Miami?

Do you a) Draft Glenn Dorsey b) Draft Darren McFadden or c) trade down for a few players.

I'm just not sold on Anderson at this point and Miami has much, much bigger needs. This just doesn't seem like a move Parcells would make, so we'll call BS on this first of many draft day rumors.

I see where you're coming from, Nate, but I think that you could do a lot better with the #1 pick than with Derek Anderson. Not only that, I really don't think that they "know what they got" in Anderson. Plenty of QB's have had one pretty good year, where all the pieces fall in place. Remember...he was fighting for the job with Charlie Frye at the beginning of the season. He could very well be a flash in the pan. Not only that, but I also think there are at least 3 QB's in this draft who will be better than him, and the Browns could also trade the pick. I would take it in a heartbeat if Miami was dumb enough to offer it.

Hell NO!!!  Anderson isnt worth Miami's 1st pick in the draft, maybe a 3rd rounder or their 2nd, 2nd round pick that they got from San Diego.  But I prefer that they trade down as much as possible.

If Parcells makes that move, he deserves to be fired.

The Dolphins would be complete fools to make that move.

I think its just the media stirring the $hit.  Parcels is considered a great football mind, not a moron.  There would be some serious questions to be answered if he did such a move.

No way is Anderson worth the #1 overall pick.  I think we all agree on that.

However, I think he should look into trading down to get more picks if he can.  Miami needs a major upgrade in talent and should try to get as many day one picks as possible.

Talk about a dream situation if you're Cleveland.  It opens up the position for Brady Quinn and you can either draft your stud RB of the next ten years in Darren McFadden or address your horrible defense and take Glenn Dorsey.

Everyone is talking about how stupid it would be for Miami, but I think it would be a really stupid move for Cleveland.  Think about it this way, you know what you got in Derek Anderson, someone who in all reality resurrected this Browns team.  What do we really know about Brady Quinn though?  He's an unknown in the NFL right now.  Yes he was drafted in the first round, but can he pick up where Anderson took off?

On the other side the Dolphins need more than just a QB, they need a lot of players.  I say you trade the pick for more picks and maybe a current starter, but not a QB.  I don't see how this decision would be a help for either team.

You just gotta trade down. Darren McFadden isn't going to solve this mess and neither is Derek Anderson. I'd make the Anderson trade if they got a lot more to go with it. Like some picks as well. Don't forget John Beck. Maybe trading the pick to go down for more picks and getting Chad Pennington for a year to groom Beck won't be bad.
