Michael Crabtree finally signs and nothing will change.
READ MORE:
San Francisco 49ers wide out Michael Crabtree finally inked a deal. It's for six years and 32 million, he has an option to opt out of his sixth year. Before Niner fans and fantasy degenerates get to excited remember that the 49ers are a run first ball control offense.

Best case scenario Crabtree will be a number 3 receiver behind Issac Bruce and Josh Morgan. He should overtake Morgan and his stone hands by week 10 but we will see. In addition to being the 3rd option at receiver Crabtree will be the fifth option in the passing game behind Frank Gore and Vernon Davis who might finally be living up to his number six draft pick talent.

The 49ers passing game isn't all that great to begin with. Shaun Hill is a great game manager but doesn't have a strong arm, think Joe Montana but without the talent. Normally Quarterbacks are mobile but with a questionable arm or are pocket passers with strong arms. Shaun Hill is the rare breed that sits in the pocket and has an arm like Jeff Garcia, but he does win and doesn't turn the ball over.

All this drama and Crabtree signed a similar contract to what he was offered months ago. He missed out on numerous practices and 8 games (4 preseason, 4 regular season). He should be competing for a number one spot on the wide receivers depth chart but instead for the next two weeks he will be on the practice squad with a sticker with his name on it on his helmet.

One area where he should be beneficial to the 49ers is blocking. He is a big strong receiver that excelled at down field blocking while at Texas Tech. This should help the already solid 49ers running game bust some big runs off.

One thing is for sure: if Crabtree comes in keeps his mouth closed works hard and puts up numbers nobody will remember his draft day whining and demanding a bigger contract than he got. No one remembers that John Elway refused to play for the Colts and demanded a trade. Or Eli Manning refusing to play for the Chargers. Elway is now a god in Denver and Manning is the savior in New Jersey.

He wasn't around when they were winning.  I wouldn't play him - just put him on the sidelines for now.  Third string sounds about right!!

He needs to keep his young mouth shut...sit on the bench...learn...be seen and not heard.   Only time he should open his mouth is to cheer on his team-mates or ask a question.  I didn't like him at Texas Tech and he has done zero to make me change my mind.
