Michael Irvin managed to talk his way out of a pretty tough situation on Monday night, when he was driving through Dallas, and a fellow motorist pointed a gun at him.Irvin thought that the men were trying to rob him, but when they recognized him, they told him that they were Cowboys fans, and the conversation shifted to football.
This might be the first (and only) time anyone could say this of Michael Irvin, but his smooth talking definitely helped to get him out of some trouble on this one.
He remained outwardly calm, despite the fact that he was admittedly scared, and was able to maintain conversation with the men until they drove away.
Irvin gave an interview about the situation on Tuesday night:
"The passenger pulled out a semiautomatic and I knew what time it was, but he said ‘Oh, that’s Michael Irvin, with the Dallas Cowboys,’ so we started talking about the Cowboys and everything. Then they got back on the highway. I tell you what, I’m glad he was a Cowboy fan."
This might be the first and only time something like this would work for Irvin, since when he starts talking, THAT's when most people start developing the homicidal urges.
