Well, the Weekly World News, famous for finding compromising photos of people, has gotten their hands on a doozie. Here's a photo they managed to snag of Mr. Gold Medal Michael Phelps hitting a bong at the University of South Carolina back in November during a down time in the swim season when he wasn't going to be drug tested.



Apparently Phelps was visiting yet another girlfriend at the school or something. And word was he was a pro with the bong.

Naturally the Weekly World News does it's best to mention how this photo will kill Phelps' endorsement opportunities. Really? He got a DUI when he was 19, which is about 300 times worse than smoking weed, and that hasn't exactly hurt him.

Plus, he's 23, has 14-gold-medals, and he's an international celebrity. We should be glad the worst picture of Phelps out there is him hitting a bong, rather than him doing lines off of a hooker's back. Cut the man some slack.

UPDATE: Phelps has since apologized, but didn't actually admit to smoking pot.

Are we really that crazy as a society that a guy taking one huff of pot totally diminishes everything he's ever done and completely taints him as a person? It's nuts. So he ripped one bong hit. This country is nuts.

I have never done the stuff, but you can imagine that he is a pro. I am sure that Phelps can hold his breath for 2 minutes or more.

 The fact is that he is role model too alot of kids (even if that is him) so, not a big deal to you or me, but not a good thing for him to be caught doing.

That's not Michael Phelps. First off if you smoke "dope" it stay in your system for six months. He would have tested positive during the Olympics. Here is a fact for everyone: Being drug tested is not just done at the Olympics for swimmers. There are so many swim meets he gets tested at you would be shocked. Second, the man in the picture has a different nose and his chest is protruding and looks like he probably has a slight beer belly. In addition this guys ears are bigger than Michael's. Nice attempt in trying to exploit this young man. They should be ashamed of themselves. Don't believe everything you read!

I'm surprised a guy that goofy looking can get ONE girlfriend, let alone have "yet another."  Otherwise, who really cares.  It's a bong hit, it's not like he got a DUI (oh wait...), or as the author mentioned, cocaine.  Otherwise he can pull the Bill Clinton defense and say that he didn't inhale.

You're surprised that Michael Phelps can get a girlfriend?  Are you serious!!?? The dude is a fricken Millionaire and one of if not the greatest American Olympian of all-time.  The dude is a living legend.  Even minor league baseball players have jersey chasers and they aren't millionaires! Michael Phelps could have 50 girlfriends..they don't care what he looks like.

Stays in your system Six months??? Try 48 hours if you're not a habitual smoker and 3-5 days if you are habitual and not overly fat...

It's blatant ignorance and (go figure) greed that made and keeps marijuana use illegal. Geez, if people who thought they had the answers for everyone else's supposed issues had even an ounce of truth to ponder, they'd kill us all...

It's me again....Well it looks like I was wrong and Michael Phelps admitted he did take a "Hit" (or two or three) LOL Well personally I really don't care what people do in their private lives. It's none of our business. The only draw back for me was having to tell my son who is a young swimmer that it is true what Michael "chose" to do. My son's reflection was he doesn't want to judge Michael Phelps and others shouldn't judge as well on what he does in his personal life and that he is still one of the greatest swimmers! Not bad a opinion from a 12 year old! Thanks for all the shout outs!!!

Look I was there man and I can tell you Michael 's bong hitting skills could be put to use to represent the USA at an event year that's way bigger than the Olympics. That's right the Universely recognized Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. Let Michael dominate in the bong competition and  the new munchie devouring category and represent the USA in a new way big time. Forget all those fat ass losers that expect you to win a bunch of gold medals and bust your ass in the pool without a rewarding bong hit! Lung capacity that can shred an 8th of the dankest KB in 19.47777777 seconds like yours should be rewarded with the finest of munchies and bong endorsements. I 100 percent agree. So what if Michael Phelps smoked a bong. He is the greatest athlete alive. He didn't put anyone else in danger. Over 95 million Americans ADMIT to smoking pot. People love weed always have and always will. He deserves to blow off steam. Just decriminalize it already and put an end to all thsi madness!! Until our greedy government can find a way to make serious bank off of it it will be illegal.  Do your thing Mike. There has never been one reported death in America from marijuana use. But how many alcohol poisonings have their been?? what does that tell you?

Fortunately for Michael Phelps, he’s already banked so much public trust and support that this mistake probably won’t tarnish his image beyond repair. However, as I said on ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike show, with tens of millions of dollars in endorsements at stake, he would be wise to publically distance himself from the handlers that attempted the cover-up, highlight what he will do to help keep kids off drugs, and remind his fans of the hard work, talent, and determination that made him a superstar in the first place. In short, he should be talking again about how much his mom and family means to him and allowing photographers to chronicle his grueling training regimen. not to mention the leading cause of teenage death is, none other than drunk driving! imagine the money we could use on stimulating the economy instead of incarcerating practically INNOCENT minor marijuana possessors. our current president Barack Obama before starting his campaign knowingly admitted that he was all for the decriminalization and regulation of marijuana. seriously people without proper knowledge on the subject you should all just check the fact. please visit: www.norml.com and read some pretty interesting stuff on marijuana and its uses.
