Michael Vick Sentencing: 23 Months In Jail; NFL Career Likely Over
READ MORE:

Judge Henry Hudson exceeded recommendations of 18 months and sentenced Michael Vick to 23 months in prison.
The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Henry E. Hudson, ended an eight month legal odyssey for Vick that saw him go from NFL star and the face of the Atlanta Falcons franchise to a prison inmate. The sentence on federal felony charges means Vick, suspended indefinitely by the NFL, won't play again until at least 2010. He still faces the league suspension. He has also been indicted in Virginia on state dogfighting charges and faces lawsuits from several banks. The Falcons are awaiting an arbitration ruling in an attempt to recoup $20 million in bonus money paid to Vick.
The above statement comes from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution so I find it interesting they are still evaluating this in terms of when he'll play again.

He won't.

2 years in jail + another year (at least) from Roger Goodell = A bad QB in 2011.

Do you think this punishment is too hard and do you think he'll play again in the NFL?

Don't drop the soap, Mike, and choose your celly carefully.  It is unfortunate that a highly talented athlete, I didn't say QB, had to go down in such a humiliating way.  His ability to play at the top level in 2011 is less than 40% right now.

Michael Vick in 2011, better or worse than some of the guys who saw action this weekend?

If Cleo Lemon can start in this league, Mike Vick can play in 2011.

if he can learn to throw the ball trough a tire 65 yards away he's got a shot. Honestly, when it's all said and done he's going to get some looks from a few teams, and if he can still qb then he will. He'll be a young 31.

Someone will take a chance on him.  Does he have to serve the whole 23 or is there a chance to get out early?  I don't know how federal prison works.

ESPN has some law talking dude answering questions. He said he'll probably serve 85% of the sentence (unless he does something stupid).

He's already served 1 month and if I heard correctly he can get another month chopped off but it's highly unlikely he'll get anymore. I'm sure his team expected something a little more than 18 months which is why he began serving early so that 2010 was a more distinct possibility.

What's debatable is how Goodell will handle the matter when he returns. I suspect he'll have his own punishment, pushing his return even further off if at all.

He deserves everything he got.

And he won't play again....

I don't have anything to say about the federal punishment, the judge gave him what he thought he deserved.  What will make me mad is when Goodell adds on to his punishment.  If Vick comes out while behaving himself in jail, there's no need to add to his punishment, unless Goodell makes it concurrent.  If he wants to give him a year suspension for the symbolism then do it concurrently.

Hope he can hold on to the soap better than he can the football for his sake.

Love the pic, Beavis and Butthead with Cheeseheads, Classic.  Anyway, with Jamarcus Russell in Oakland, if Oakland picks up Vick, it would be in a backup role or in a Kordell Stewart type role.  I like the Kordell Stewart role.
