I'm sure you're all aware that while Michael Vick won the court case about collecting his $20 million in bonuses from the Falcons, he's still knee deep dog business. That's because he reportedly is in debt somewhere between $10-50 million. And since his bonus money is still working its way through the appeal process (the NFL is appealing the decision, but is unlikely to win), Vick doesn't have the cash yet, and thus had to declare bankruptcy.
And when you're bankrupt, pretty much everything you own can be sold, including your baby's clothes.
The contents of a storage unit belonging to Michael Vick, which included baby items, were sold after the imprisoned Falcons quarterback failed to pay his bill, according to a Virginia television station.
WTKR Channel 3 reported Tuesday that employees at the Iron Bound Mini Storage in Williamsburg informed Edward Howard that he had bid on a unit rented to Vick.
Inside boxes, Howard found pictures of Vick and his son. He also found a football signed by Vick to the child. Howard told the station that other boxes were packed with baby clothes, baby furniture and other items that he believes are memories of Vick’s first-born boy.
As rough as that sounds, I like how Howard had to be informed that "he had bid on a unit rented by Vick." That seems to suggest Howard had no clue that he was indeed bidding on Vick's baby furniture, which is great news for all us. Any auction you go to could be the one where you unknowingly bid on a superstar athlete's storage unit. Talk about excitement!
But the sad thing here is just how far Vick has fallen. While he'll in a likelihood play again somewhere, his days of making any significant money are gone and he'll be vilified for eternity.
Moral of the story: You should have lived in American Samoa, Mike. Dog fighting's legal there.
