I'm completely serious, I think you have to give some thought to ranking Michigan. Aren't the polls supposed to be a representation of the top 25 teams at this point in the season?

Sure, they were dreadful against Appalachian State. Embarrassing against Oregon. Notre Dame isn't good, so we can scratch that, but Penn State is a decent football team. Certainly among the 25 best.

Michigan is a good football team, again. It wasn't pretty, but 336 yards against the Nittany Lion defense is impressive. Much to my dismay, Michigan's down turn only lasted two weeks. It was fun, though, wasn't it?

Based on the whole body of work, Michigan isn't among the top 25, but based on who I think are the best 25 entering week 5 the Wolverines are definitely one of those.

There's another question worth asking -- do you start Chad Henne when healthy?

The polls are not power rankings, they are for the entire season, taking results into account. Michigan lost to a 1-AA team and got pummeled by Oregon. There are plenty of other teams who haven't lost any games, and certainly haven't lost to a 1-AA team (who by the way lost themselves today). Those teams should be ranked before anyone even thinks about ranking Michigan. If Michigan wins a few more, then we can consider ranking them.

0	No; you don't rank them...I know it gets very ugly after about the top 18-20...but they are not worthy of being up there yet. One win on a ranked team doesn't get you up there; they run the table, then sure...rank em somewhere. Chad Henne question: NO.

0	Wouldn't rank them yet. They beat a Penn State team that had impressive defensive numbers against some not so impressive teams. Win a few more and maybe you could put them in the top 25.

0	I would not rank them. They might not break into the top 25 until the end of the year. If they win outright and win their conference they will deserve to be in the top 25.

They shouldn't be ranked....no question. As for Henne....Yes, Mallet while playing OK does not give you the offensive range Michigan will need to win out. Mallet threw at least four passes right into the chest of PSU defenders yesterday and they only caught one. Hes going to be good really good but just not this year. Plus I'd feel bad risking Henne's shot at the pros. Not that he'll be good but costing a kid millions when he has helped the school make millions would be disrespectful.

I wouldn't rank them yet. If they get to 5-2 or 6-2 then I would bring them back into the top 25. Once Henne is back to 100% he deserves to get back in. It wasn't just Henne who stunk up the field against Oregon and App St. Mallett is going to be a star, but Mike Hart was the reason we beat PSU, not Mallet and Henne gives the team the best shot to win the Big 10. If Henne struggles when he gets back, then I would consider pulling the plug. I would, however, let Mallett start against Northwestern and Eastern Michigan to allow Henne to get healthy.
