Is it just me or shouldn't a 4-year starter at QB have gained the respect of his teammates enough that they'd vote him captain?

Lloyd Carr announced his tri-captains today: Jake Long, Mike Hart and Shawn Crable. All very important players, but none of which command the huddle on every offensive snap. A bit odd, yes?

Chad Henne will likely hold every Wolverine passing record by the end of this season. This isn't the case of a senior just taking over the helm at QB. And no, this isn't the case of Spartan fan digging for a Wolverine weakness. They really don't have any other than a hole or two in the defense. Even a "Michigan Man" thinks this might be fairly important.

I'm not going to adjust Michigan's record because they didn't appoint their 4-year starting QB to captaincy, but just something to stow away. Wouldn't you be skeptical if your players didn't appoint an experienced QB as captain?

Yeah, this is a bit odd. One of those things that you remember when the wheels fall off in mid-November, preferably right around the 10th.

They obviously feel that Hart and Long (both are seniors I believe) are better leaders, no big deal here at all. Henne will be fine.

Well if the wheels fall off for the 10th then I hope they stay off for the 17th!

It's not odd at all. Michigan always has 3 captians: 1 Offense, 1 Defense and 1 Wild Card. Long was a captain last year, so he deserves a spot. Crable gets the defensive spot. That leaves one spot for either Henne or Hart. Both are 4 year starters at key positions.
