GRAND BLANC -- Michigan State doesn't yet have a starting tailback, and in line to contribute is a big back in incoming freshman Gerald Holmes.
 
The Flint native who starred at Carman-Ainsworth High School is listed at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds and stands to compete for carries.
 
"I just think he has a little element to him," Michigan State quarterbacks coach Brad Salem told the MSU Genesee County Alumni Club on Monday. "He's got the ability to make you miss."
