Michigan State Versus North Carolina Live Thread
Here's The Only Big-10/ACC Challenge Game You Should Care About [UNC Versus Michigan St. Live Thread]
For those of you who like college basketball, there's nothing quite like the Big-10/ACC Challenge. There's always at least one pretty kick ass game in it each year, and this year is no exception.

UNC squares off against Michigan State tonight, and that works for me. Two powerhouse programs in a big time non-conference game about eight months after they clashed in the NCAA title game.

The game is at Chapel Hill, and with these teams ranked #11 (UNC) and #9 (Michigan St.), it should be about as tight as it gets.

Feel free to chat up the game here. Tyler Hansbrough is excited.

Gonna be a good one tonight, but I suspect UNC will win. The closest game of the whole thing might be Duke vs Wisconsin.... Wisconsin is a tough out on their home court.

Personally the only game I care about is Wisconsin vs Duke. Granted, its kinda crap that the ACC #1 or 2 team is matched up with the Big Ten Preseason #9 team. Oh well.

so if lemoyne beat syracuse, and syracuse beat unc, does that mean lemoyne already won the national title this year?

You can have a lot of fun with the transitive property in college basketball.

Basketball games should always be shown in fast forward...that was awesome.

It did get cut down to 10 pretty quick, maybe there's a shot for MSU yet.

That was some of the best defense I've seen UNC play in a long time in the first half.  They never really let MSU get settled in to the game and were contesting a lot of shots.  I was not excited about the poor free throw shooting at the end and them letting the Spartans back in the game, but it was a very solid win.  Good to see Dre play so well and Davis dominate as well!!

Too bad both teams lost most if not all of their best players, idk about M St because they were lucky just to make it to the finals last year and have such a high rank this year.  The problem with the NCAA Basketball ranking system is largely based on the previous season's outcome not the strength of the team itself.  Several of the top 5 maybe even top 10 ranked teams including Kentucky and Kansas have several of the top recuits and a few players returning from last year thus making it understandable for them to be as high ranked as them.
Dont get me wrong i have always loved the Big-10 - ACC matchups because they have always been and will always be the prominent NCAA Basketball conferences in the country.  But these 2 teams are recieving much more hype then they should due to the lack of experience players from both sides have.  Plus,  you should have used a better picture because Hansblow is gone.

Luckily for college basketball though, they have a regular season to fully grasp where the current players of each team levels of play are at. I really have never considered the early rankings of teams in the first month of the season to be all that important, and while it does give tournaments like this Big 10/ACC Challenge some more hype, I don't believe it hurts any teams for the rest of the season. No harm, no foul kind of deal.

hopefully duke can win this one. It would be pretty pathetic if we lost, after beating UConn
