Michigan fans have a right to be upset, but not solely at Rich Rodriguez
READ MORE:
Michigan fans have a right to be upset, but not solely at Rich Rodriguez. Yeah they have lost the turn over battle in almost every game, and it has seemed that the team has quite on Rodriguez in almost every game. This I believe lies on the coaching staff. Where is the discipline. A well disciplined team will not give up the ball 3-4-5 times during the game and a well disciplined team will not quite no matter how bad it gets on the field.

What is the other reason Wolverine fans should be upset? How about Lloyd Carr. That's right, the National Championship winning coach, the coach that has recruited the likes of Chad Henne, Mike Hart, Jake Long. Just to name a few in recent years. It has seemed Michigan has had a steady stream of very good defensive player year, after year, after year. Were has the offensive recruiting gone ever sense the days of Henne, Hart and Long? If you look at Michigan' offensive roster in '08, over half of the team is either So./Fr. Yes the O-line 4 out of 5 of the are Jr./Sr.(the only Fr. at Center) and Brandon Minor (RB), Greg Mathews (WR) returning to give some sort of leadership. But that it, no one else has played college ball or at least limited college ball.

I'm am very reluctant to say this, but here it goes anyway. I believe Lloyd Carr knew what he was doing when he retired. He knew the offense was going to be slim pickings. And he go out before the going got touch. Now I think Lloyd Carr is a great coach, don't get me wrong there. I would take him back in a heartbeat at Michigan. But with an offense like that I don't think any coach could make it work. Yeah, Rodriguez could drop the spread offense and attempt to salvage something out of this season. But what would that tell the team? Would Rodriguez be quitting on the team? I think he should stay the coarse. Keep the spread. That is what they are going to be using next year and year after that, until he leaves the University of Michigan. I keep looking at teams like Alabama(6-0), Michigan St.(5-1) and even Minnesota(5-1). It wasn't that long ago that they were not that good. Once their coaches got the players they needed to run their offenses and defenses they started winning again.

Wolverine fans need to be patient over the next few years until Coach Rodriguez gets the players he needs to have to run his style of play on both sides of the ball. We all know it willnot be this year and it probably will not be next. But at least he has a young group of players to start with.

HAIL TO THE VICTORS!!!! and GO BLUE!!!

KM, as a fellow true blue wolverine, i must, as the saying goes, agree to dis-agree! Coach Carr would have never been in this position, @ 2-4, and looking @ a losing season. If coach Carr stays, then Ryan Mallet, a true STUD QB, stays, as does WR'S  Adrian Arrington and Mario Manningham, OL Justin Boren does NOT transfer to OSU, and Brandon Miner, Kevin Grady, and Carlos Brown, all with some playing time/experience, are MAJOR contributers on offense, and Michigan's looking @ a 4-1 record. Coach Rodriguez, in my opinion, has been wrong in NOT using the players he has, and putting them in situations they can succeed at. I believe the spread is also here to stay, but there have been plenty of poor play calling decisions, running the same play, over, and over, and over again, and NEVER gaining a yard, mostly LOSING yards. Coaches are supposed to gear their attack, mold the team, around the players available. Maybee the spread should have been introduced slowly, more moderatley, making the proper adjustments as they go. I think the defense has been shell-shocked, and plays every down with added pressure because the offense can't move the ball, period. They stop a team, and the ball is given back, no rest for the defense, who had no rest, back on the field, then, back again after another failed effort by the offense. The special teams have been bad, and of course, the turnovers on offense have given the opponents great field position, and, in the case of the Toledo game, a 101yd. INT for a TD on a poor decision by Threet. K.C. Lopata, who has been terrific, shanks a FG, and our season is over. I guess the basis of my feelings, are, for the most part that MANY ANTI-CARR FANS, spewing evil, viscious language on all media sites, and mostly on sports-talk radio, They would have had Bo Schembechler fired after a 3-2 start in 1969, and then again after the 6-6season in 1984. Wake up Wolverine fans, Coach Carr was pushed out unfairly, and 2-3 losing, or 6-6 seasons are on the way until Coach Rodriguez can recruit his players, Meanwhile, enjoy New Years Day, oh, i'm sorry, the entire college bowl season watching the Spartans, Nittany Lions, Buckeyes, Gophers, etc. I LOVE MICHIGAN FOOTBALL, in good times, and bad. How long before the ANTI-CARR fans turn on RICH-ROD?  GO BLUE!!!!
