Midweek game changes things for the Colts

FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsRoutine is one of those things which is the central part of every coaches life in NFL. Not only do they practice it with rigorous duty, they are responsible for making it a part of every players life. The schedules they make are done with great accuracy and much preparation goes into every practice the team does.

And the players aren’t one to take things easy. They worship their regime and don’t let much interfere with it. NFL is one of those places where lapse in a workout or diet regime can have long lasting consequences.

This all comes in jeopardy when the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts face each other on Thursday at Nashville. After playing a game just four days ago, both teams have to critically change their routines for now. Playing a game in between the week is stressful for both the teams.

“It’s not about sympathy, and I don’t need anyone to play a violin or anything. But it’s tough as hell to play in this league from Sunday to Sunday, much less from Sunday to Thursday,” said Cory Redding, defensive back for the Indianapolis Colts. “That’s all about heart. You can try and plan for the team as best as possible, but there’s only so much you can get into in two days.”

“This is all about taking care of your body and knowing the team that you’re playing,” he continued. “You have to go out there and get this win off of sheer heart and guts and will.”

The Colts aren’t the only ones who will be going through this phase. With the NFLs Thursday night package, all the 32 teams will have to play at least one midweek game. And it doesn’t get easier when it comes for the team to play the game. A lot has to change for just one game in the entire season.

Thursday games will affect the team in many ways in NFL. The players will have to cope with certain things that come with playing a game after just four days of playing the previous one. With such a short gap in between games, the team will have little time to recover from the injuries sustained from the previous match. This means they will have to plough on and have more than one plan if they plan on replacing any sudden injuries.
