It was only a matter of time before Mike Leach had another press conference meltdown. Our favorite pirate head coach shares his theories on replay officials and who should be calling games. He actually brings up several good points, namely residents of a town officiating the home team (i.e. Austin).

That said, was it really the officials who gave up 59 points on the Red Raiders? Good defenses always make the zebras much more tolerable.

Leach says he doesn't regret the criticism, but that's because he hasn't been fined yet.

This is at least the 2nd time that a Big 12 coach has publicly called out officials for Texas games, after Mangino had his famous "That's BCS. . . that's right, dollar signs" speech a few years ago after Kansas got hosed by a call against Texas.

Anyone who watches a lot of Texas games could really build up a lot of evidence for the officials giving a little help to Texas, therefore to the Big XII, over the years. I wouldn't be shocked to see Freeman Johns getting a little Tim Donaghy scrutiny.

You're definitely right about him having better standing if his team didn't give up a billion points. I think he was probably just frustrated enough to say what he and many other members of the Big XII have been wanting to say for awhile; the Texas bias is ridiculous.

I'm sure you've already heard, but there's a lot of talk (by Herbie and a few guys in print) that the at-large BCS bid will likely go to Texas, as long as they win out, which is ridiculous, but those Texas dollars do a lot of speaking.

I don't think they should get it so I'm hoping for an Oklahoma loss in the Big XII title game and the Sooners taking the at-large instead of Texas.
