Mike Sherman Will Be Named Next Texas A&M Head Coach
11/26/07

A bit of a surprise, right? Yes, that Mike Sherman who coached Green Bay from 2000-05 and led the Packers to four straight winning seasons. The connection is that Sherman coached the Aggies offensive line from 1989-93 and then again in '95 and '96.

The Dallas News reports the school has called an 11 a.m. press conference to make the announcement. Apparently, they've had their mind made up for a while.

Good move?

I like the fact Sherman has a connection with the A&M program, and thus should be better adjusted to the need to 'coach' and his NFL background should be a strength when it comes to recruiting. However, look at the track record for most NFL turned NCAA coaches. Not good.

I love Sherman.  He isn't a very good GM, but as a coach he is very underrated.  The only question I have is the one posed in the blog... how will he transit from the NFL to college?

He did a much better job in Green Bay than most remember, surprised it took him this long to get a head coach job somewhere.
