As a 49ers fan, I can't tell you how psyched I am that Mike Singletary is the 49ers head coach. But I'm perhaps even more psyched as a blogger. Why? Well, because aside from Singletary producing a legendary blowup after only one game thanks to idiot Vernon Davis, Singletary also reportedly has already done one of the most bonkers halftime speeches I've ever heard of. At halftime of that game, Singletary called for the attention of his players. He then dropped his pants, turned around and pointed to his backside. He used this occasion and that visual to describe what happened to his team in the first half.
A NFL source inside the room confirmed the story with my radio partner, XTRA 910 football guru Mike Jurecki, and added that Singletary then addressed the team for 3-4 minutes with his pants around his ankles.
Now that's pretty impressive. Although, I hope he better have left his boxers on while delivering that speech.
As I said, the best part about all of this - the mooning and the rant - is that this all happened as a result of his first game. For the love of God 49ers, please sign this man to a 10-year contract this instant. I have a feeling that not only will Singletary quite literally scare his players into being great, but we're bound to see something even more ridiculous on a weekly basis.
