Mandatory Credit: Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY SportsOn the heels of Miguel Cabrera's monster contract, Angels outfielder Mike Trout is getting seriously paid as well.

Trout and the Angels have agreed to a 6 year contract extension for $144.5 million, which will take him through 2020.

Trout is the best all-around player in baseball right now, and has finished 2nd to Miguel Cabrera two years in a row in AL MVP voting.

Some people are saying that this deal was a bad one for Trout, who could theoretically have made a few million more if he had ridden out his arbitration years and hit free agency. That having been said, he'll still be a free agent at age 29, and primed for another humungous contract.

When his career is over, Trout will likely have made in the neighborhood of $500 million as a baseball player, assuming he continues on a similar career path. He might be leaving a few dollars on the table, but don't shed a tear for Mike Trout. He just gained a whole boatload of money, and he's got incredible financial security. I think he'll be just fine.
