(Mini-)NBA Triple Threat: One Step Closer
4/14/08

NBA Triple Threat: Your (almost) daily roundup of last night's action in the Association:

Another shorten version as the playoff race continues its ebb and flow.

Denver 111, Houston 94 It's not officially over, but with this win, the Nuggets are one win away from the playoffs, and that win will potentially come against the terrible Grizzlies. Denver had it surprisingly easy, taking the lead early and letting it grow with a 10-0 run in the first half. For the most part, Houston was never really in it, a welcome change for Nuggets fans used to mental instability this season. Barring disaster, the Nuggets will clinch a playoff berth on Wednesday, if not tomorrow, depending on the Warriors-Suns game.

LA Lakers 106, San Antonio 85 The Lakers both hurt and helped the Hornets with this result. The Lakers took sole possession of the #1 seed. However, New Orleans' lead in the Southwest increased to a full game with San Antonio's (and Houston's) loss. If LA wins their last game, against the Kings, they will be the #1 seed. They got this win today with a fine defensive performance in the second half, holding the Spurs to just 32 points. Not surprisingly, this broke open the game, which was tied at the half.

Detroit 91, Toronto 84 Like the Cavs, at one point Toronto was considered a sleeper in the East playoffs. Well, they are now 40-40 and are in danger of losing the 6th seed to the Sixers (the two teams are now tied). What I'm trying to say is, the East Finals is going to be Celtics-Pistons.

Now it's your turn: share your thoughts on the on and off court action Sunday in the NBA.
