Minnesota quarterback MarQueis Gray will be sidelined for a few weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in the Gophers' 28-23 win over Western Michigan on Saturday, reports SB Nation.Blog Photo - Minnesota Football: QB MarQueis Gray Sidelined 2-4 Weeks

Fans and alumni can exhale for now, as it was once believed that Gray had went down with a serious leg injury. Still, the Gophers are off to their first 3-0 start since 2008 and would like to be bowl bound by season's end.

Gray has accounted for 632 total yards and seven touchdowns in three games this season and is the catalyst to Minnesota's offensive success.

Depending on the severity, he could miss up to a month. This would keep him from playing against Syracuse, Iowa and Northwestern.

Backup Max Shortell threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns in relief of Gray last weekend and should continue to produce solid performances.

However, the Gophers will need to adjust their offensive scheme for a little while. At 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, Shortell is more of a pocket passer, while Gray uses his legs often as a dual-threat.
