FanIQ | Sports Rumors, Gossip, Blogs, News & Discussion ForumsThe Minnesota Wild are in a spot of trouble with their goaltender area and it has been going on for the entire season and there is not end to it. Their goaltender Darcy Kuemper was originally set to serve as the backup when they face the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.

But they wont get to have him because he was ironically injured in the Monday morning practice before the match. Because of being injured at such a short notice the team did not have the time to get in contact with AHL in Iowa to arrange for a backup goalie to be called and so they had to sign in Rob Laurie for a tryout contract.

This makes Laurie the backup. And in case Kuemper does not make it to being healthy till Thursday when they will be facing the Chicago Blackhawks then they will have to call in John Curry from AHL for the Iowa Wild as they will have sufficient time to call him in till the match.

Laurie is used to the schedule for being called in such short times under such tight circumstances. That is one thing which is his asset in such situations. And he has been there and done this before in many occasions. He has been with the Anaheim Ducks last season for a game when they were out of options and had to resort to the same thing that the Wild have to do now.

Then on January 5 he was with the Vancouver Canucks when they faced the Anaheim Ducks and needed a backup goaltender.
