Monday Night Football Baltimore Ravens At Pittsburgh Steelers Live Thread
First Team To 3 Wins
Tonight's Monday Night Football is quite a game for those of you out there who love defensive football. That would not include me. But anyway, it's still an intriguing game. The 2-0 Ravens, who've got rookie QB Joe Flacco under center, have been a bit of a surprise so far this season. Meanwhile, across the ball, we've got a banged up 2-1 Steelers squad, which includes Ben Roethlisberger, that'll also be playing without Willie Parker and Casey Hampton.

Thus, Steelers rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall will have the unenviable task of making his NFL debut against the league's No. 1 defense. Oh, and Mendenhall also foolishly boasted this week that he'd have a big time tonight. Something tells me this game won't end well for him.

Basically, considering we have a rookie QB going against a banged-up QB who doesn't seem to have an especially good line, I'd be surprised if we see more than 30 total points in this game.

As of right now 80% of FanIQ is going with the Steelers. I honestly have no clue. I really think Ray Lewis might kill Big Ben.

I'll just go with the flow and pick a score that's about as low as the current Dow Jones. Steelers 13, Ravens 10.

By the way, I'm more interested in seeing how many times Tony Kornheiser mentions Brett Favre tonight after Favre's pretty ridiculous performance yesterday. Even though Favre will have nothing to with tonight's game, I bet Kornheiser mentions his name at least 10 times.

Anyhow, Q it up here with us tonight.

I have Pitt 17-10...but I wouldn't be shocked at all if Flacco has a productive game and a late win.

Let's keep the longest MNF home win streak going.

There's a preview of what's to come tonight.  We couldn't even get through the opening kickoff without an injury.

Since I'm at work, could someone please alert me to the first Kornheiser Favre reference.

Well the kickoff certainly has set the tone of the game.

It's our favorite Italian ref Gene Steratore!

Over/Under 14.5 punts?

I couldn't bring myself to pick it, because the Ravens are missing 3 defensive starters.  I don't trust either team to do anything offensively.  It'll be field goals and defensive scores today.

These Steelers jerseys are delightfully terrible.

I'll go under, but just barely...like 12 or 13.

Holy s***, Washington didn't drop the ball!

Joe Flacco, meet James Harrison.  I remember Harrison doing that last year against this same team in the same stadium wearing the same jersey.  Hey, history really does repeat itself.

Um Ben, there wasn't a Steeler remotely close to that play.

and now looking hurt, maybe just a cramp though.

Is the Pitt D hugely impacted whether or not hes on the field? (don't know this team well)

Well he's back in and was the one who forced Flacco to throw it away on that 3rd & 11.

Ravens O-line improves; and they have back to back really nice drives..7 would be huge here.

I know I said I wouldn't of been too surprised if Flacco played well enough for a win...but I wasn't thinking this well.

So on ESPN they are talking TO, on ESPNEWS they are talking TO, and on ESPN2 and Classic, TO news is scrolling on the bottom... If ESPN didn't show all the games, I would hate ESPN.

Flacco still has another half to play.  Since this is a friendly site I'll keep what I'd like to say about the Steelers to myself.

Since we haven't had anyone be that douchey fantasy football guy...

I am glad I have all my games wrapped up with the teams that Rothlesburger is my QB.

That was un-freaking-believable!  All of a sudden the Steelers are in control.

My prediction was 17-14 Ravens, too bad because I thought I could finally get a perfect prediction score on the pick'em...which I think is impossible.

Not impossible, I did it week 1.  1000 points!  Woot!

I was so close in week 1 with the Steelers/Texans game.  I think I picked something like 35-14

We'll see how he is in OT.  This is the first time he's faced this much pressure in his short NFL career.

I'll never understand why a team would play for a coin toss... granted it might pay off for Baltimore.

If there was an opportunity to have a tie this season, this game might be it. I know Pitt was hot earlier on offense, but i think D on both sides will be stepping it up well.

What the hell, Mewelde? That was ridiculous. If you fall on your face, just don't grab the ball. That's just dumb.

Amen to that, Ben had some time there and could've at least tried to get some positive yardage.

Seriously... it looked like Mewelde just ripped it out of Ben's hands, and Ben wasn't sure that he wanted to give it to a guy who was already down hahaha. But when he realized that Moore was going to take it no matter what, he just let go to make sure it didn't get fumbled.

But yeah... it definitely looked like Ben could have done SOMETHING. Maybe not something great, but better than a 5 yard loss... if only Mewelde Moore hadn't essentially ripped the ball out of his hands. Just a dumb play on his part. They're lucky it didn't matter.

Moore is lucky Reed is a dependable kicker.

Well I bet the over and won my fantasy match-up because Ben couldn't beat me...well he could have if I didn't have Hines!!!

I'm sorry they don't have a west coast style offense to please you.  Not every team in the league uses a pass-happy offense.  Running it down your throat is Steelers football, it has been for years.  BTW, in case you weren't paying attention, which you obviously weren't, that 4-yard loss just about took the Steelers OUT of FG range.
