Monday Night Football Thread: We Welcome Ron Jaworski
Two young quarterbacks hoping to break out, and a new announcers hoping to break in.

I'm not among the bevy of bloggers who insist Tony Kornheiser is terrible, but I do agree he wasn't entirely himself last season. Let's hope it was the result of Joe Theismann, which is more than justified.

Welcome, Ron Jaworski. I, for one, could not be any happier we've got some Monday Night Football. We're getting closer ...

Feel free to discuss the meaningless game here.

Honestly, ANYONE is better than the moron that is Theismann.  Jaws is always fun when he is a guest on PTI, so him and Kornheiser have good chemistry.  I think it'll be a good group, and I'll find out on Sept. 10

Agreed on all counts. So far, so good. These guys all have great chemistry. They're almost as fun to watch as Al & John. Almost.

The celebrity in the booth is Jerry Rice. That is acceptable.

I hope that during the regular season they don't go back to having worthless celebrities in the booth, plugging their crappy movies (I'm looking at you, Dane Cook).

Well, apparently they've offered up an invite to Oprah. Not sure whether that fits into your good or bad grouping.

Good grouping: athletes, hot females

Bad grouping: everyone else - if you don't have something to do with sports or you aren't eye candy, I'm not interested

(Before some wiseass says something, I do not consider Oprah to be a hot female)

I agree, there's nothing I hate more than them talking to some "celebrity" idiot.  This isn't entertainment tonight, it's the freakin NFL.  Watch the game.

Where does Sly in Philly fit last year?

He's the only guest I can really remember now..

Agree on Jaworski being a great addition. The best Monday Night broadcast this past season was the one in the doubleheader with him and Vermeil (and Paul Maguire, I think?). Great chemistry, egos checked at the door, as close to a perfect booth as you can get.

On the "celebrity" guest lists, It's all gonna be about cross promotion with other Disney-owned properties. Remember the dude from Desperate Housewives thay had last year? Think Dancing With Stars (Emmit, Rice), Lost, Cavemen, etc.

Also, I'm willing to bet on a couple of NASCAR drivers, a random hottie, Jimmy Kimmel and the male lead of the next sports-themed Disney film.

The 3rd with Jaws and Vermeil was Brad Nessler.

I thought Jaws & MNF did a great job last night. I actually watched MNF past halftime for the first time in preseason.
