Games in Progress:
Game: Senators (7-6-2) @ Devils (9-3-3)
Broadcast: SNET-E, MSG
Jess: I didn't get my pick in in time, but for the record I would have gone with the Devils. Brodeur is in net and I just can't pick against one of the greatest.
Game: Flyers (6-9-1) @ Islanders (6-7-1)
Broadcast: CNS-PH, MSG PLUS
Jess: I probably would have picked the Islanders. And been wrong.
Game: Predators (7-3-5) @ Avalanche (5-7-1)
Broadcast: NHLN-US, FS-TN, ALT
Debi: I dunno!! I can't pick! No stats to look at but I think both have been doing a little better?? Avs I guess.
Jess: My prediction - the Avalanche kick some butt early on and collapse in the dramatic fashion only the Avs seem to be able to muster this year.
Game: Hurricanes (8-4-1) @ Canadiens (9-4-1)
Broadcast: RDS, NHLN-US, FS-CR, TSN-HABS
Debi: Got to take the Habs. Might get to see bits of this game on the French channel.
Jess: This will be an interesting game. I've gotta go with the home team here. Maybe even in overtime.
Game: Maple Leafs (9-6-0) @ Panthers (4-6-4)
Broadcast: SNET-O, FS-F
Debi: Ugh. I don't want to pick the Leafs but I think they probably will get the win here.
Jess: The Maple Leafs are just so much better than the Panthers, this seems like a blowout waiting to happen. However, there's usually a good upset per night and I'd rather pick this one than the other seemingly lopsided game tonight.
Game: Flames (5-5-3) @ Coyotes (7-6-2)
Broadcast: SNET-W, FS-A
Debi: Of course I'm taking the Flames! And thank you Bryan for hanging with me on this one! They seem to have figured something out so here's hoping it's just the start of better days to come.
Jess: I hope the Flames are on the upswing. I'm going to take a chance and pick them here.
Game: Blue Jackets (4-9-2) @ Ducks (11-2-1)
Broadcast: FS-O, PRIME
Debi: Duh!! The Ducks are so hot right now they're smokin'. And wow but I can't believe some of the plays they've put together. Ducks gonna kick some AZZ tonight.
Jess: I really hope you guys are right. The first game after a long road swing always makes me a little nervous. I hope the Ducks can come home and play just as well in front of their home crowd as they've played on the road over the past week and a half, but it's going to be tough. Hiller's starting tonight, after Fasth has given me a sense of security when he's in net. Nothing against Jonas but between that and the fact that this is their first game back (and so quickly after the road trip) scares me.
Yesterday was a full day of hockey as well, so there were plenty of plays to choose from in order to make this Top 5 video, courtesy of NHL.com:
