A little note- This article is not necessarily to write about who won or lost, but to bring out the opinions about the show, what certain events may be leading up to as far as future feuds and such. Let me know if you would like for me to do these every week or not. With that being said "Let's get this party started."

Right off the bat.... Is it just me or is the whole "McMahon is hurt" storyline just old? I know they recycle stories and such but how many of us have actually forgotten about the whole limo blowing up ordeal? What's the deal with Shane and Stephanie coming on and talking to the talent like they're 10 years old? I mean come on "Don't make us come down there or you know what'll happen." Did they (or anyone) really think that they were going to listen? Case and point, Shawn Michaels races to ringside to beat up on Chris Jericho right after the McMahon speech. On that note, Jerichos' promo (albeit a good one) was too long. When he trashed Shawns' boy was over the line I thought.  I'm not exactly sure if they discuss with the other stars they're in a story with as to what is going into their promos' but, if they do, then Shawn deserves as much of the blame for allowing it. I don't think the kids should be brought into it. Now, as for the matches:

Mickie James vs Katie Lea- Decent match, nothing really great about it.  It doesn't look as if they're gonna give Katie Lea a legit shot at the belt anytime soon. If anything, that match just pushed a feud between Kingston and Burchill.

Kofi Kingston vs Paul Burchill- One of the few high spots for the show as Kingston came out to a HUGE pop. IMO Burchill could be a legit contender for the Intercontinental title if they gave him a push.  Kingstons' sky is the limit. He appears to have potential to be a top guy for years with the way he excites the crowd.

Santino Marella vs ? - Santino came out to the ring and took to the mic and was calling out to anyone for an answer to his challenge. The crowd was relatively dead until Beth Phoenix appeared. Once the match was over and she had won, it solidified my thought that it was time for Santino to say "ciao." That's not to say women can't beat men but, if you are to be anything more than a jobber you don't lose those matches. It is rather sad to say that you hit your peak in your first match. High spot #2 mainly because it made me laugh to see him lose.

Jamie Noble vs Snitsky- one word: squash. Not much else to say about these two. Did anyone think Noble had a snowballs chance in, well you know where. However neither one will be of any signifigance in any major singles titles. Tag Team belts maybe.

CM Punk vs Kane- Good all-round match. Made Punk look good while it left Kane as a threat to the title. The count out ending couldn't have been better. Batista coming out was a bit of a surprise.  Arguably, this was the best match of night. Not only did Kane not have to another job to put over Punk but it left open the possibility of a Kane/Punk feud and a Batista/Kane feud for future storylines. I have to ask though, what was in Kane's sack? High spot #3

Y2J VS Paul London-  As if Jericho needed to garner any more heat. This looked like another squash match. However, this atleast went to build toward something.  I imagine we'll see London coming down to assist Michaels at the Great American Bash.

Cryme Tyme and John Cena vs JBL, Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes- The other in the running for the best match of the night. I like how they had Cena help push Cryme Tyme to championship status. In time I can see Tag Belts on them legitimately.  DiBiase and Rhodes, there is definetely a bright future ahead for the two of them. Although it remains to be seen in singles competition. Even though he is in the main event spotlight, I can't help but see JBL as nothing more than an over-achieving mid-carder. Being on the talent deficient Smackdown brand I can understand but not on Raw. I just can't see him being World Champion on Monday nights. In his defense though, he did bring a ton of heat to the ring with him.  The match itself was really good.  The show overall....decent at best. They've done alot better than that before.

A few other notes: The only thing holding back the main event from being a great match was the stupid ending. "Hitting" John Cena with a car? They've got to do better than that. IMO Shane and Stephanie need to stay off the camera and quit threatening to "come down there" and concentrate on writing better shows on a more consistant basis.  After all, the only ones who are gonna "pay for it" are the fans. Having to deal with more poorly written shows, is almost as bad as listening to Jillian Hall sing. High spot #5- she didn't sing our ear drums were saved for atleast this week.

Kelly Kelly being sent away from the ring by Dibiase and Rhodes. I don't know about you all, but I was rather disappointed seeing that. Although it did set up the main event....it was still Kelly Kelly. Couldn't they have interrupted somebody like...Santino Marella?

Jim Duggan coming out to interrupt Rhodes and Dibiase only to get humiliated. Seriously, that was disheartening. Most of us grew up watching and pulling for him to win. However, didn't it seem to dawn on him that he had a 2x4 on his shoulder?!  Then again he has taken quite a few shots to the head over the years. Maybe something got knocked loose. I dunno.

Well, there you have it a rather rough first time.  Depending on what kind of response this gets, I'll make it a weekly thing or not.
