Money Mayweather desperate for one more payday before he goes to jail, calls out Pacman

Today, on his Twitter account, world-class boxer and the pound-for-pound trash talk champion of the world Floyd Mayweather, Jr. called out Manny Pacquiao in a desperate attention to get one monster payday before he goes to jail.

A Mayweather-Pacquiao fight has been batted around for years now. It's obvious that they're the two best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet. For many casual boxing fans, this is the only matchup anyone wants to see. For avid fans, this is a match made in heaven.

How does Pacquiao feel about it? In an interview with PhilBoxing.com, he says he's all for it.

"I've said this over and over before and I'm saying this again: I want Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to be my next opponent and I haven't changed my choice despite recent developments. I am meeting with my promoter, Bob Arum, on Tuesday and I will insist that the fight with Mayweather be given the preference"

Therein lies the problem. Despite tough talk, Arum always seems to be a bit intimidated by the thought of a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. His most recent comments indicate that he anticipated Mayweather looking for an easier opponent in May, and that November would be the optimum time to schedule the superfight, but also that he wouldn't be opposed to a May bout.

Now is the time for them to make this happen. Mayweather is desperate to get it done, and neither fighter really has anyone left to fight. Pacquiao could theoretically fight Juan Manuel Marquez again, since their last fight was a pretty close decision. But what is there to gain? He's already beaten Marquez twice, and fought to a draw in their first fight. A loss would be devastating, and another win would just be redundant.

Mayweather has been picking apart everyone who has stepped in front of him. No one has really given him a challenge lately, and Pacquiao is the only one who can even remotely make a claim to be a better pound-for-pound fighter right now than Mayweather.

If it happens, there's no doubt that it would shatter every PPV record imaginable, and could be the biggest fight in boxing history. Some say that it HAS to happen, to "save" boxing. I disagree. I think it would get unparalleled hype and attention, but once it's over, it will be over. If anything, it could remove the last bit of suspense left in the boxing world.

But I still want to see it. Let's make it happen, gentlemen.

I was a huge boxing fan in the past, and like Jess, was a DLH fan. I can honestly say I haven't watched an entertaining boxing match in quite a while, probably because Canada has even less than the US. I would pay for this one on PPV (and invite Jess) and cheer loud and long for Manny. Mayweather makes me want to hurl.

This would be the one and only time I'd pay for a Mayweather fight. His fights are boring, he never fights anyone challenging, there's always excuses surrounded by him, yet he remains one of the prominent faces of boxing. And one of the main reasons the demographic that historically loved boxing is now drawn to the UFC and other brands of MMA

LOL- I think i was the only Oba Carr fan in America- I seen in come up in the amatuers with ESPN Tuesday Night Boxing back in the day

You're right though, and that's why I stopped really paying much attention to De La Hoya. He used to be one of my favorite boxers, but after he fought Oba Carr, he just got lazy, IMO. Boring.

There's still a lot of great boxing out there. Unfortunately, unless it's a huge name, it just isn't all that widely popular anymore. It's ok though - I know where to find it :)

Creative, but I don't like it. Pacquiao is a stand-up dude, and Mayweather beats women. Can't take the chance on letting him go free. It's bad enough he got to put it off this long.
