Mandatory Credit: Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY SportsAdd another big name free agent to the already stacked free agent class this offseason, as Monta Ellis will reportedly opt out of the last year of his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks and become a free agent.

There are rumors that Ellis could be a backup plan for Dwight Howard, who is reportedly trying to team up with fellow free agent Chris Paul.

With the Clippers trying to secure head coach Doc Rivers and forward Kevin Garnett from the Celtics, Paul might be convinced to stay in Los Angeles and try to win a championship with Rivers, Garnett, Blake Griffin, and their current cast.

If that happens, Howard's dream of playing with CP3 will be impossible, so he could instead try to team up with Ellis somewhere, most likely Houston or Atlanta.

Ellis averaged 19.2 points per game last year, slightly below his 19.4 career average.

At 27 years old, Ellis is still very much in his prime, and is capable of being one of the better scorers in the NBA if he's surrounded with some quality players.

Wouldn't want him on my team. I don't think he's a winning player. Zero concept as to what a good shot is. Field goal percentage has been on the decline. Perhaps the right coach could maximize his full potential. Good luck with that.
