More Les Miles to Michigan Talk, LSU AD Says 'It's Over'
Either Les Miles just can't quit Michigan or the Maize & Blue just can't quit Les.

The Detroit Free Press reports Miles and Michigan spoke last week keeping alive the possibility that he could still bolt for his alma mater after the national championship games.
"Miles had a phone conversation Friday morning with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and school president Mary Sue Coleman, according to several people with knowledge of the call.

Michigan received permission Nov. 28 from LSU athletic director Skip Bertman to speak with Miles, as long as it was after the Dec. 1 SEC championship game. So asking LSU again for permission was not an issue; U-M is believed to have initiated Friday's call."
Despite all of this, LSU athletic director Skip Bertman remains unconcerned his coach will be leaving anytime soon.

"They're frustrated because they didn't get what they want," Bertman said. "You can't get Les Miles -- the guy signed his contract. It's over."

"There's a bias as to why would a guy would stay at LSU when he could go to Michigan," Bertman said Monday. "I'm here to tell you it's a better job. It's more money. It's the only school in the state. It's a wonderful place. His wife loves it here, he loves it here."

Who knows what to think with the Michigan coaching search, but the sooner January 7th comes without a man in place, the larger this speculation will grow. Many others are speculating that the Wolverines are waiting for the NFL season to end to find their coach. The good news is that Michigan can afford to wait as recruiting takes care of itself in Ann Arbor.

My original 'Who will be Michigan's coach' poll is closing, so I'll ask again -- who do you think will be the man?

Is Michigan still wanting this guy because he's an alum, or because he has the chance to win a national title and beat Ohio State at the same time?

Pretty big talk from the LSU AD. I can't wait to read his quotes if/when Miles takes the Michigan job. Kind of sounds like he's trying to convince himself he isn't going anywhere.

I'm starting to think Miles will go to Michigan which opens up some of the same credibility issues that Nick Saban is facing.

The love and affection for UM spewing from Les Miles's mouth, even during his press conference saying he is staying at LSU, was very strange. I have a hard time believing that anyone but Miles will be roaming the Wolverine sideline next season.

Yeah, he will be exposed as a liar and fraud, but people will forget. Besides, I think the college coach who stays true to his word is the rarity, not the other way around.

This is starting to be hilarious.  Michigan can do better, but have the weirdest love affair with a coach I've ever seen.

On a side note, if Ohio State wins and Appy State beats Delaware, Michigan will lose to two national champions in the same year.  I think we should all root for this to happen.

I agree, but its not like this doesn't happen all of the time. Petrino went to Atlanta after signing a 10 year deal at Louisville. IMO no one will be as bad as Saban because he did it twice. Once at LSU and once in the NFL

I've said it before. When someone besides Les Miles is the Michigan coach then I will believe him and the LSU AD.

Isn't that the truth.  All of these coaching maneuvers is getting just a bit sickening.  What happened to honoring contracts????

I guess Petrino might be since it looks like he's leaving Atlanta after his first year to go to Arkansas
