UPDATE: Pro Football Talk now claims this is inaccurate and that's not Merriman's body on the left.

Earlier today Pro Football Talk created quite a storm by posting these two pictures above. The left is Shawne Merriman in May of 2005, the other is Mr. Lights Out in May of 2007 after he had tested positive for steroids and clearly put a stop to the practice.

If the video we posted earlier today of the much smaller Maurice Jones-Drew blocking Shawne onto his ass wasn't evidence enough the Merriman is off the juice, this should seal the deal. Staggering, huh?

Merriman's play this season isn't as different as these two pictures, but he's not matching his previous performance.

That seems to go back to people placing the steroid use of a large chunk of the MLB all on the shoulders of Mr. Barry Bonds, when he was just one of many who used steroids, he just happened to be really freaking good as well.

I mean, does anybody like the other posterboys of the steroid era? Palmeiro, Caminiti, Brady Anderson, et al.? They just don't get as much attention, so they don't get the volume of hate like a guy who Bonds, who also happens to be an extremely unlikeable guy, making him even more of a lightning rod for the criticism.

0	This is really weird that the result out of this entire thing is that somehow they have exposed that the Chargers and/or the NFL photoshopped a player's official photo. Knowing the NFL & the media, this will probably become a bigger story than Merriman's steroid use did in the first place.
