Motor City Bowl: Purdue Boilermakers vs Central Michigan Chippewas

Finally, more football. We've gotten the pre-Christmas games out of the way and now we proceed with the full bowl blitz. Purdue vs Central Michigan probably isn't lighting your pants on fire, but it should amount to a very high scoring game and who doesn't love that.

Why I'm picking Purdue: Well, there's the obvious reason. That being the Boilermakers already pounded the Chips 45-22 back in September and it wasn't even that close. Curtis Painter should be able to exploit Central's pass defense all evening. If they feel like pounding the ball, that shouldn't be much of a problem, either. Central Michigan ranks 106th in total defense.

Why I could be wrong: Purdue may think they can just go through the motions and repeat their early season performance. I also may be underestimating CMU's growth throughout the season. Not to mention, QB Dan LeFevour would get my vote as the most talented player with the least recognition.

FanIQ says Purdue (92%)

My pick: Purdue 41, Central Michigan 31
Confidence: 24

Curtis Painter is pretty good. If Purdue only had some kind of defense, they could be better than the Motor City Bowl.

Keep in mind, Central has one of the worst defenses in the country. It's all relative, but I do think Painter is pretty good and ended up overlooked because they didn't win too much.

So I tune in halfway through the third to find a 41-27 (now 41-34) game and Curtis Painter has 415 yard passing.  Wow.

That was a really good game. Nice way to kick off Capital One Bowl Week.

If Central Michigan had won that game, I had the best headline for it. "I got a Lefevour, and the only prescription is more cowbell."

Well, I'm not as confident in Chris Summers as I am in Peyton Manning (2007 AFC Championship Game), so I was really iffy at the end.

LeFevour is Tim Tebow without the supporting cast...and his mechanics are better.
