Mountain West Conference Considering ExpansionFor BCS, May Add Boise State

MWC Looking For Ways To Become More BCS-Friendly. So... How About Stealing Boise State From The WAC?

After Utah went undefeated, beat 3 top-20 teams, and still got snubbed with a #4 final ranking last year, the Mountain West Conference has been looking for every possible way to get a fair shake from the BCS, and a legitimate chance to win a National Championship.

One thing that they could theoretically do is add another team. There aren't a ton of options there, since they would have to find a team that is good enough to boost their standings with the BCS, but is in a conference that's weak enough that the MWC would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Enter Boise State. They actually have the best record in the country in this decade, and they have done very well, even beating Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. They are currently in the relatively weak Western Athletic Conference, and they suffered from the same fate as Utah last year, as an undefeated non-BCS school.

I think this is a great idea for pretty much everyone involved... except of course the rest of the WAC. It would be unfortunate for them to lose their banner team, but in the end, it would give several more teams a fighting chance at a championship.

Would this make the MWC just another one of the evil big-wigs? Yeah, kinda. But if they are serious about getting a chance to compete, they might not really have a choice.

BCS voters need to actually look at current talent not past talent, but wins like BSU's, Utah's and BYU's just scream for a playoff system in NCAAF.

I like the move, perhaps this opens up a spot for some other team to move into Bosie's conference... and the domino effect might trickle down to my local school, NAU.

The idea has merit but why not raid the Big West also so that a new conference would compete against the Pacific 10?  If your going to go for it, go all the way to the top!  And get Boise State too.

This is one of the best suggestions I've seen. I never thought about it that way. Yay for possibly getting BYU/Utah/TCU vs. Boise State every year.

does it matter? bcs does what it wants pick who they want and they going pick the traditional powerhouse and never the underdog no matter what.

I see what you are saying. Boise State has been a powerhouse and always gets a look by the BCS. But this also illustrates what is wrong with the BCS system to begin with.
