So, now that we have our personal blogs, I have been wanting to write one about my trip to see the Daytona 500 last year.  It was amazing, epic, wonderful.  But it would be very long because that's how much I have to say.  SO, what I think I will do is split in into a series of polls.  Right now I'm planning 3 parts:  Getting to Daytona, Being At Daytona and Leaving Daytona.  I'll lay a little background here.

My love of Nascar was handed to me by my Dad.  As I state in my profile, he spent his teenage years living there and racing in the streets and on the beach.  For me to go to Daytona was like.... completing a circle.  Like going to my roots.  My Dad didn't join me on this trip, but I did call and text message him a bunch of times and he was very excited for me.  He called me once to ask if I had seen his high school.  I laughed at him and said "Um, Dad.  There are a quarter million people here with me.  I could be on the football field and not even know it!".  Anyway, my love of Nascar resides in my heart, probably even my blood.  I don't know all of it's history, I can't tell who who won the '78 Winston Cup, but I love it so.

My friend David (not my boyfriend, as some of you know his name) surprised me last year with a phone call a few days after Christmas.  "Check your e-mail" he says.  He is a riddle man, makes me work for answers.  I've been friends with him for 3 years now and he's...a challenge to me.  Gets on my last nerve A LOT, but still I love him.  So with him on the phone (he lives in W. Palm Beach, FL) I log on and see his message.  I open it and see a confirmation for a sale of tickets to the Daytona 500.  3 tickets.  I say "Ohhhkaaaay??"  He then instructs me to call my friend Daysi and make sure she gets this weekend off and for us to figure out if she's driving or I'm driving.  Daysi is the 19 year old little sister of one of my best friends and my friend as well.  I am excited but a little...bewildered as to why he chose her.  It's like...I have a circle of friends, maybe even a few circles and he went to my second circle.  I asked him why and he said "Because she is so pure of spirit and I love to see you guys together."  Which is true.  We are a friggin riot together.  When I'm with her I'm a kid again and we laugh till we cry.  We get completely goofy.  We do this....routine where we talk smack to each other like we're...hookers and we talk about how bidness is down on our corna.  So I knew- THIS was going to be the trip of a lifetime.  Stay tuned and I will share it with you.
