Today NASCAR went road racing at Sonoma, the Toyota/Save Mart 350. Road racing in NASCAR tends to have a lot of beating and banging, but today it went to another level. As the cars were pulling out of pit lane for the warm-up laps before even starting the race, there was an incident. Paulie Harraka, making his first Sprint Cup start, ran into Alex Kennedy, also making his first Cup start, on the pit lane as the field rolled out. I'm not a NASCAR historian, but I'm guessing that hasn't happened in a while, if ever.
Harraka is currently 39th in the race. Kennedy is 40th and out of the race. Harraka hasn't had much of a NASCAR career to this point, and that kind of brain fart means it'll probably be a while before his 2nd Cup start.
