Kasey Kahne has the pole position for the race today at Talladega, but just about anyone could lead the first lap. Wrecking on the first lap is also a distinct possibility, as past races have shown. Honestly, I have to say the starting lineup is absolutely no surprise to me. Most of the drivers you would expect to be up front, are up front.
(Dayum,. I'm watching the end of NASCAR Raceday on SPEED and Tony Stewart just told Rutledge Wood he can get him an athletic cup sponsorship for next year. Rutledge's response? "There you have it, Tony Stewart has just said he will looking for athletic support for next year")
They have been asking drivers what their strategy will be for the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has said he intends to try to run up front all day, to be there at the end. Other drivers have said they will drop back and hang out in the back to be safe, then move up at the end of the race. Clint Bowyer has said all that strategy will go right out the window when the green flag drops. I'm with Clint, except when it comes to Jr. He has shown time and time again that he can run up front and stay reasonably safe. Okay, so he hasn't won a restrictor plate race in a while, but he hadn't won any races in four years until Michigan, earlier this year.
I predicted earlier that Kevin Harvick would be the eventual winner, and my only hope is that Jr. might thwart that win. I'm still sticking with that prediction. Kevin won't lead the most laps, but I believe he ill be there at the end and he will win this race, getting his first win of the season.By the way, in case you missed it, Kevin Harvick tweeted a pic of himself dressed in his Hallowe'en costume.....as Tony Stewart. I'll let you judge for yourself.
Feel free to join in if you are watching the race. We will no doubt have twitter updates and pictures from the track, and it is bound to be exciting. Let's go Racing, boys!

Reports are circulating that Dale Jr may have hit his head pretty hard. He's been holding and rubbing his head, but says he's okay, although he took some hard hits

Well, Kurt Busch was leading and ran out of gas. He got turned by Jamie McMurray in the 1 car, who was just trying to give him a push. Kurt didn't give anyone any hand signals that I could see, yet he has a hissy fit and when the safety crew comes to attend to him (he hit the inside wall) he miraculously gets the car, which is out of fuel, restarted. Then he takes off, taking the safety crews bag and various other parts with him.
The 51 is parked for the day. Adios Kurt, the Phoenix Racing crew will likely be glad to see the arse end of you.

ARGGGGHHHH!!! A great pit stop for Jr completely negated by speeding on the exit - Jr serves a drive through penalty, ends up all by himself, no draft, and 28 seconds back.

Is it just me, or does it seem really windy there? Certainly it is cooler than it has been, how will it affect the set up on the cars??
