2 races down, 8 to go before a champion is crowned.  One driver stole the show at Dover while the man who finished 2nd held the points lead, although it shrunk right back to where it was when the field was reset after  Richmond.  Today's top story from the no surprise department, those 2 drivers are now 1-2 in this week's rankings after the man who has held the top spot for the past few weeks crapped the bed at the Monster Mile.  There are a couple new faces and a couple others who dropped out this week.  Check to see where your favorite driver is ranked in this week's FanIQ NASCAR Power Rankings...

NEW THIS WEEK: A.J. Allmendinger, Matt Kenseth
DROPPED OUT: Casey Mears, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
ON THE GAS: Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart
ON THE BRAKES: Elliott Sadler, Brian Vickers, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin

20. Elliott Sadler (-5):
Sadler narrowly escaped dropping out after he had all sorts of problems at Dover, "finishing" 30th.  I'd drop him out but I can't quite find anyone else that had a really great finish that I can replace him with.  Knowing the way his season has gone though, he'll drop out after Kansas.

19. David Reutimann (-3): Finishing 21st will drop you for sure, it was no dream for Reutimann at the Monster Mile, he was the first car to finish 2 laps down.

18. Marcos Ambrose (+2): 14th isn't pretty, but you can see why he moved up from last week's spot just by looking at the results of the pair below him, crikey!

17. A.J. Allmendinger (previously NR): A.J. finished 7th, an excellent day for a franchise who still doesn't seem to have all their ducks in a row for 2010.  He was one of 2 non-chase drivers to finish in the top 10.

16. Kevin Harvick (+1): Happy finished 12th, not stellar, but still miles better than 95% of his finishes this year.

15. Clint Bowyer (-2): Clint finished 15th at Dover, only problem is most everyone ahead of him in this week's rankings also took the checkered flag ahead of him.

14. Matt Kenseth (previously NR): After dropping out of the rankings last week for the first time in who knows how long, Matt makes it right back into the rankings this week with a 3rd place finish at Dover.  Where were these types of finishes from races 3-27, Matt?

13. Brian Vickers (-6): Vickers finished 18th, he's not gonna win any championship with finishes like that.

12. Kasey Kahne (+2): Kasey finished 8th at Dover, a great recovery after his detonation at Loudon.  Unfortunately his spot in this week's rankings is where he still sits in the Chase, 12th position and nearly 200 points back.

11. Carl Edwards (+1): He finished 11th, he's 11th in points, and 11th in this week's rankings...you can't get much more unison than that.

To see Martin win the Cup would be great and emotional.  Tony winning would be extra special as his first year as owner/ driver.  Still with that said, I say Jimmie will pull it off with a fourth Championship!

Yes he did, which is why he moved up more spots than any other driver this week.  That said, I couldn't NOT move Mark Martin up after he held onto his points lead and wound up right behind Jimmie at day's end.

Nice job this week Bryan, and I pretty much agree with your rankings. What is really funny to me, though, is I saw this headline when I was logging in, and it took me 15 clicks to find it again. Ah well, here I am..LOL

Kansas for me, I am taking Jeff Gordon, with Smoke as my dark horse, although he is hardly that!

The rankings are fair. I see a battle between Mark and Jimmie this week, with Tony right there with them. At least that is what I'm hoping for. This week should start to seperate some of the drivers more and set the ones that can bid for the championship. Should be fun to watch.
