Well, the series is leaving Atlanta needing a huge pick me up after the boring race concluded with many of the sports stars (Tony Stewart specifically) ripping Goodyear Tire for the rubber they brought to the track over the weekend. Goodyear had intended to make a tire that was more durable, but not only did they fail in doing so, they produced a tire that was so slick & dangerous it made for overly cautious drivers that were afraid to race hard. Well, all except for this guy. The tires were so slick it was like driving on ice. While many people may enjoy that type of race even more, real fans of racing want to see fast, competitive side by side racing with the occasional wheel rub.
Our wish may be granted as the series moves onto Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN this week. My personal favorite track always provides great racing, great drama, & on the edge of your seat viewing. This is a race that I have no problem relaxing in my recliner & watching every lap go by as there is always something interesting happening on the 1/2 mile, 36 degree banked bullring! To me, there is no other race track that compares to Bristol as far as competitive racing goes.
Here is my Top 5 prediction for The Food City 500:
1. Jeff Gordon
2. Kyle Busch
3. Kurt Busch
5. Tony Stewart
Barring an accident or problem (that most likely will occur) these guys will all be charging to the front seeking Victory Lane.
Now, on to the current standings for The STREAKING polls. I want to thank all of you that participate, it seems to be running smoothly so far & it is a lot of fun to be a part of. Congratulations to all of you who have consecutive week STREAKS going right now, I am impressed. Be sure to pick wisely this week to keep that bonus going! For those of you (& me) who are down a bit on the scoreboard -- remember, you are just 1 good streak away from pulling right into the thick of the pts. battle so keep trying.
The first session lasts until Race 13 where the SESSION 1 Champion will be named & all the pts. will be reset to zero, so everyone will have 2 more chances at success. You CAN keep your streak going in between sessions, only the pt. total will be reset. It's all about the STREAK here!
