Thunder in the Valley - Bristol Motor Speedway Sharpie 500
Veteran Mark Martin will lead them to the green flag, taking the pole position on his 1,000th start, and he is going to be trying vry hard to make this his 40th win. If he wants to be in the Chase for the 4th time, and keep his streak alive (he's been in the Chase every time he has raced full time in Sprint Cup) he needs a strong finish as well as the strong start. He's only hanging on to that 12th spot by 12 points, with Brian Vickers breathing down his neck.
Kyle Busch, who has already announced he won't race the Nationwide Series full time next year, also needs a strong finish in this race. He sits in 15th at the start of the race, 70 points out of 12th place, and the cut off for the Chase. The lone Richard Childress car with a chance at the Chase is Clint Bowyer, and he's 57 points back, again, not an insurmountable margin, but it all means that these guys have to be strong, smart and race clean.
The Q has a bunch of lucky members attending the race, 18packabs, pawleys_isle and MPRacing are all at the track, smelling the fumes and hearing the thunder roar. What I wouldn't give to be there with them, but hey, chatting it up here is the next best thing, right? So strap in, grab your cold one, turn on the sound system and the HD TV, and join in. We'll be here all race. Let's Go Racin'!!!!
