NBA Draft Results: Brook Lopez (Mic'd Up) Falls To New Jersey Nets At 10

Bad For Brook, Good For Us: "I'm Going To Be Like Brady Quinn"
6/27/08
Even though they are both seven-feet tall, it's still rather remarkable that twins Brook and Robin Lopez were both drafted in the Top 15 of Thursday's NBA Draft. Their mother must be proud of that accomplishment, however, I think very few Stanford grads were proud of their performance at Madison Square Garden.
Brook Lopez, expected to possibly go 4th to Seattle, must not have realized there was a mic near by.
Enjoy as we get a Napoleon Dynamite-esque "This is BORING," followed by the best line of the night, "I'm going to be like Brady Quinn." Lastly, a line that Nets fans can forgive after his first double-double, "Who's the Nets general manager?"
I take it he's never met Kiki Vandeweghe. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if they met earlier that evening and he merely forgot. That, uh, Stanford education didn't rub off much over two years.
But seriously, the New Jersey Nets got a steal with B. Lopez falling that far and coupled with later picks of Ryan Anderson and Chris Douglas-Roberts, the Nets must be seen as one of draft night's biggest winners.
